Pioneer

My eyes are on the horizon.

I’ll build a future based on where I’ve been.

I don’t mind the sacrifice I have to make today

Because I’m thinking of tomorrow all the way.

I’m a pioneer, leaving home and friends.

I’m a pioneer. I’ll take a step of faith,

No telling where it ends.

Maybe I’m the first to try, but I won’t be last.

Someday folks may follow in my path.

I’m a pioneer.

I haven’t always been restless.

At times I’m still scared of this wilderness.

Some folks said that I would never make it on my own,

But when you’re traveling with God, you’re not alone.

I’m a pioneer, leaving home and friends.

I’m a pioneer. I’ll take a step of faith,

No telling where it ends.

Maybe I’m the first to try, but I won’t be last.

Someday you may follow in my path

And be a pioneer.

“Pioneer” written and arranged by me, sung by my children when they were much littler.
